Disaster Relief Brings Immediate Help

When devastating fires ravaged the area around Colorado Springs beginning on June 26, 2012, the KCM Disaster Relief team headed out from Fort Worth.

Our team worked with First Responders to locate our Partners and give aid where possible.

Once again, the Disaster Relief fund was used to bring immediate help to an area unprepared for such devastation. Thank you for all you do to help whenever help is needed!

KCM Disaster Relief Team Surprises Partners With Personal Visit

Little did 20-year KCM Partner Hattie Irving know when she called KCM for prayer prior to a tornado devastating her town of Wichita, Kansas, that Outreach Manager Steve Poteet and Outreach Minister Riley Stephenson would show up at her door just days after her area was hit!

Steve and Riley arrived to survey the damage finding 155 homes destroyed, approximately 3500 people affected and six people killed.  After speaking with local firefighters and locating KCM Partners, they were able to write personal notes of encouragement and enclose cash donations to help those who desperately needed both. Through KCM’s Partners Helping Partners program, Hattie received enough money to cover repairs, deductibles and more.  She shouted the victory that KCM partnership brings hope and together, she and many others kicked the devil in the teeth!

Rebuilding in Faith

One year after tornadoes hit Joplin, Mo., the rebuilding continued. The KCM Disaster Relief team was there immediately after the devastation and continued help into 2012.

At Easter in 2012 the community was blessed to receive from The Reach team: food baskets, an egg hunt, healings and 200 salvations. And the faith and participation of KCM Partners and Friends made it happen!

What a marvelous way to say to destruction and disaster – Jesus Is Lord!

Tornadoes Rip Through Kentucky, Indiana and Ohio

Partner Church in Moscow, Ohio, Gives All Glory to God for KCM Intervention

When KCM’s Disaster Relief team, Steve Poteet and Riley Stephenson, arrived in Moscow, Ohio, and saw the recent tornado’s devastation, they were determined to find the local Partners who had been affected.  Many were brought to tears and others laughed with joy that KCM reached out in love to them during their time of need.

Viola Maus and her family talked about their church, a local landmark since 1890, saying the roof was gone and the bell tower destroyed.  The pastor didn’t know what he was going to do about it, but Steve and Riley were there to assure him that KCM would stand with them, not just in word but also in deed.  They gave them the money they needed for the new roof and restoration of the bell tower, and all glory went to God as the pastor wept and all who were there praised the Lord for His abundant provision.

Ministering to Spirit, Soul and Body in Birmingham

People of Birmingham lined up two hours early to receive the 1300 turkey dinners provided by The Reach, supported by KCM Disaster Relief. They heard the Word of God preached, many were saved and they all received ministry!

Riley Stephenson and Word of Life Church, led by Pastor Brandon Ball, met every goal they and the Lord had set for this outreach! The outreach was saturated for days, weeks and months in prayer by our team and the local church.

One participant said, “Kenneth and Gloria, we love you and appreciate everything you do. You are a blessing to all of us. Keep doing what you do!”

Even the destruction of tornadoes like the Birmingham area experienced in 2011 cannot keep God’s people down. By the Word of God and the Spirit within, they have victory!

The Worst Tornado in 64 Years

Steel, wood, concrete and people’s priceless possessions were all mangled together. Destruction was evident everywhere. This was the worst EF5 tornado to hit on United States soil in 64 years.Riley Stephenson, Steve Poteet and the Kenneth Copeland Ministries Disaster Relief team were on site looking for KCM Partners and Friends. They brought money, prayer, hope and encouragement. Their message was clear: God loves you and KCM loves you, too!

Many people had amazing stories to share about how God had protected them from the storm. And, that God was providing for them as they planned to rebuild their lives on the same foundation—the love of God.

All the Partners said the same thing. “Thank you Kenneth and Gloria Copeland. Thank you for the money, the love, the care and the people you sent to find us. We love you.”

The Sirens Just Kept Going Off

The Kenneth Copeland Ministries Disaster Relief team searched for Partners and Friends amidst the terrible devastation that was Joplin, Mo. Pastor and Mrs. James Forde tell of their experience.

“We’ve never gone for cover before. The siren went off and it just kept going, and it just kept going and it kept going. I spoke to my husband that maybe we might need to go to the basement,” said Mrs. Forde. Her husband pastors Word of Life Fellowship. The Forde’s live near the hospital that sustained so much damage. Their only loss was an interruption of electrical service. They really believe they came through this disaster because of God’s protection and Kenneth and Gloria Copeland’s teachings on having faith in God.

The Kenneth Copeland Ministries Disaster Relief team was in Joplin looking for Partners and Friends. Steve Poteet and the other members of the team wanted to make sure people were safe and see if they needed anything. It’s not an easy task to find people when the neighborhoods have collapsed and the street signs are gone. But Steve and the team continued to search for people in the affected area. Steve continued, “One person can’t do much, but together we are a force to be reckoned with. This ministry is all about Partners helping Partners.”

We Survived Disaster in the Closet!

All they could see was mass devastation when the Kenneth Copeland Ministries Disaster Relief team got out of their van. Joplin, Mo., had been hit by an EF5 tornado and the rubble of destroyed homes was everywhere. One couple told the team they heard the tornado and felt God tell them to get into the closet. Sure enough, within seconds everything around them was flying around and falling apart as the tornado winds whipped through. After a few heart-pounding minutes, they were able to climb out of the now collapsed closet. Thankfully, no one in that area of town was killed or even seriously hurt.

“You can’t out give God!” they announced. “I try to keep giving back, and I get more!” This couple is giving to those in need right along with Kenneth Copeland Ministries. Everywhere the KCM team goes they hear, “We love you guys. We thank you for your kindness and your prayers.”
