Ministry Minute: Bring Your Dreams to Life

Dream Big Dreams Ministry Minute

Got a just minute? Check out our new Ministry Minute video teaching! In this Ministry Minute, Kenneth Copeland explains how you can bring your dreams to life with the Word of God…all in about a minute!

What are your dreams in life? Self-help experts advise people to write down their goals and dreams and to look at them every day. They also recommend speaking them every day. Well, the Bible says the same thing! When you find promises in the Bible, you have to be willing to stand for them. Meditate on them and speak them every day to get those promises down on the inside of you. As you are faithful to stand for these promises, you will see your dreams come to life!

How to Find Your Refuge in God

How to Find Refuge in God

“Twenty-four-hour news—all day, every day.” From embattled presidents to impoverished nations, lost children to lost souls, overwhelming national debts to overpowering world crises, everywhere we turn the news assaults us with stories of death and destruction. Television announcers proclaim them. Radio DJs blast them. Our smartphones light up with them. And the watercoolers at our jobs spread them. If we’re not paying attention, we can begin to believe that all hope is lost, that we will lose this battle called life, and that there is no hope.

But stop.

Is that the truth?

Is that our truth?

No, our truth reminds us that we serve a great God. We serve “the Alpha and the Omega—the beginning and the end…. the one who is, who always was, and who is still to come—the Almighty One” (Revelation 1:8). He is the One who created this world and everyone in it. While the enemy may try to pervert and destroy it, we can rest in the truth that our God is bigger than the news coverage, has already overcome death, and is greater than any destruction.

In Him, we can find safety. We can say with confidence: “The Lord, He is my Refuge and my Fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I [confidently] trust!” (Psalm 91:2, AMPC).

God Offers Life

After reading that verse, we must ask ourselves: “Do we confidently trust the Lord?”

Do we trust that He can and will protect us from calamity? Do we know that He is with us in the midst of it? Or have we subconsciously given in to the belief that either He caused the destruction or doesn’t care that we are living through it?

A lot of well-meaning Christians believe that God brings about death and destruction to teach us lessons. But that statement is contrary to what the Bible tells us. God doesn’t teach His people through destruction. No, instead, He has given us His Word. Second Timothy 3:16 tells us, “All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.” If we will allow it to, the Word will instruct and correct us.

And to say that God is glorified through death and destruction would be to say that God uses the same tactics as the enemy. First Peter 5:8 says this about the enemy: “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” And in John 10:10, Jesus said, “The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” God’s ways have nothing in common with Satan’s. God promises a rich and satisfying life— not loss, death and destruction.

God Offers Refuge

If loss, death and destruction come from Satan, then isn’t our God big enough to overcome those tactics? Of course, He is.

We can be like the man in Psalm 91 who dwells in the secret place of the Most High. God is big enough to cover each of us if we’ll come to Him. He can keep us surrounded by His goodness, so that wherever we are, we can say like David: “The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my savior; my God is my rock, in whom I find protection. He is my shield, the power that saves me, and my place of safety. He is my refuge, my savior, the one who saves me from violence” (2 Samuel 22:2-3).

Now, you might think, Yes, but that was David. He was a man after God’s own heart. I can’t be like him!

Consider all that David endured. He had to fight a lion and a bear while watching his father’s sheep. He had to defeat Goliath, a giant and an experienced warrior. He had to survive Saul’s attacks and lead his people to multiple victories. These weren’t simply nice stories; they were real life. He endured and overcame violence again and again without fear, even writing: “Praise the Lord, who is my rock. He trains my hands for war and gives my fingers skill for battle. He is my loving ally and my fortress, my tower of safety, my rescuer. He is my shield, and I take refuge in him. He makes the nations submit to me” (Psalm 144:1-2).

David had faith that God would be faithful. Even in the midst of difficulty, war and uncertainty, David trusted—or had faith in—God. And guess what? God faithfully protected him.

Similarly, the Lord will be just as faithful to protect us if we will follow Him. If we will study His Word, obey it, and listen to the Holy Spirit, then we will enjoy the refuge of God. Obedience like this isn’t a one-time thing. It is a lifestyle that requires us to be so committed to the Lord and His Word that fear doesn’t gain any place in our lives. It means that we become so convinced of God’s protection, love and goodness that we can’t help but think about His Word, talk about His Word, and filter everything in our lives through His Word.

We don’t have to give in to the fear that is perpetuated through media reports. Instead, we can trust our heavenly Father and His Word to provide the protection we need. When we nourish our lives with His Word and are obedient, we can rest knowing that God will be faithful to us. We can trust Him because He has said, “I will rescue those who love me. I will protect those who trust in my name. When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation” (Psalm 91:14-16).

Ministry Minute: The Uncomfortable Thing About Serving God

Ministry Minute: Serving God

Got time for a quick Ministry Minute? In this video, Kenneth Copeland explains how being uncomfortable serving God causes you to defeat the area of discomfort with the Word of God.

“Firsts” can be uncomfortable, right? The first time you tried out for the team. The first time you drove a car. The first time you became a parent. Serving God for the first time, serving somewhere new, or taking on a new role, can also be a little uncomfortable. Well, you can become comfortable doing the uncomfortable. Allow Kenneth to explain more in this video.

Don’t let being uncomfortable keep you from serving God. Take courage and be bold in your service to Him!

3 Ways to Activate the Anointing

3 Ways to Activate the Anointing

When Jesus walked the earth, His Anointing was evident by the miracles He performed and the lives He touched. From demons to disease, no malady or evil presence could withstand the power that flowed from Jesus Christ. As a follower of Christ, you have access to the same anointing. When you activate your faith, you follow in Abraham’s footsteps as noted in Romans 4: “[He] believed in the God who brings the dead back to life and who creates new things out of nothing…. Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises…” (verses 17, 20-22).

Yet when you are staring death in the face—maybe the threat of physical death, the death of a dream, or the death of a relationship— it can be daunting to find the strength to activate your faith. When all seems lost, this is precisely the time to activate your faith and believe that God will do exactly what He says He will do. Your faith in Christ was not meant to sit unused on a shelf, but to be living and active, working in the trenches of your life. The bottom line is, your faith works when you work your faith. Is it time to take your faith off the shelf and use it? Here are three steps that will help activate the anointing in your life.

1. Activate the Anointing by Focusing on God’s Word

Spend time praying about the situation that needs God’s Anointing. Are you in need of healing? Of a relationship restoration? Of financial breakthrough? Whatever is weighing on your heart and mind, begin to mine the Word of God for scriptures that apply to your situation. Once you find them, write them out, memorize them, and set them in a place where you will see them often throughout the day, such as the background on your phone, laptop or tablet. When your thoughts drift into the lane of fear and negativity, redirect them by grabbing the wheel and focusing on the Word of God. The longer you meditate on negativity, the more opportunity for damage there is, so grab the wheel and “set your mind and keep focused habitually on the things above [the heavenly things], not on things that of the earth [which have only temporal value]” (Colossians 3:1-2 AMP).

2. Activate the Anointing by Expressing Your Faith

As you build your faith through feeding your mind and heart with God’s Word, (Romans 10:17), the anointing touch of Jesus Christ becomes activated. Look at the story of the two blind men in the Bible who cried out to Jesus, “Son of David, have mercy on us” (Matthew 9:27). They were calling Him the Christ, the Messiah, the Anointed One. Jesus asked the blind men if they believed He could do this miracle. He wanted to hear them speak their faith, since He knew He was anointed to give “recovering of sight to the blind” (Luke 4:18 KJV).

Or consider the leper who came to Jesus and said, “If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean.” The leper was making a faith demand on Jesus’ Anointing (Matthew 8:2-3).

Expressing faith allows the anointing to flow and healing to occur.

How have you expressed your faith? Have you expressed it in faith statements like those above? Have you expressed it in faith actions? Look again at Abraham’s example; he took action without knowing the whole plan. “It was by faith that Abraham obeyed when God called him to leave home and go to another land that God would give him as his inheritance. He went without knowing where he was going. And even when he reached the land God promised him, he lived there by faith…” (Hebrews 11:8-9).

3. Activate the Anointing by Walking It Out Every Day

Walking in God’s promises is not a one-time action, but a way of life. “It was by faith that Moses left the land of Egypt, not fearing the king’s anger. He kept right on going because he kept his eyes on the one who is invisible” (Hebrews 11:27). You walk out your faith in the words you say, in your prayers and in your conversations with others, and, like the Scripture says, by keeping your eyes on the one who is invisible.

But it’s not always easy, is it? The faith journey takes effort, and an act of your will to determine to receive the promises of God. You may even empathize with the father who pleaded with Jesus to heal his demon-possessed son. His anguished, raw words may resonate today: “I do believe, but help me overcome my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24). The good news is, as you daily choose to look to Christ and express your faith, you are strengthened…one day at a time.

Choosing to focus on God’s Word, expressing your faith, and walking it out every day will activate the Anointing of God in your life. As you build your faith and learn to activate the anointing, remember where your faith comes from. Hebrews 12:2 tells us that Jesus initiates and perfects our faith. So, you’re not alone; Jesus is right there with you for your journey. It is Christ who first drew you to Himself, and it is Christ who made a way for you to have faith in the first place. It is Christ who continually refines your faith. Always look to Him, and soon, you will be operating in the anointing with signs and miracles following you just as they followed Jesus when He walked the earth!

7 Tips to Improve Communication in Your Marriage

7 Tips to Communicate in Your Marriage

“Do to others whatever you would like them to do to you. This is the essence of all that is taught in the law and the prophets” (Matthew 7:12).

The idea of treating others the way we want to be treated sounds easy enough, doesn’t it? And yet, nowhere in life is this more tested than in marriage. To the person we’ve entered into covenant with, the idea of loving, honoring and cherishing them with our words as well as our actions sometimes becomes challenging.

We struggle to control our tongues, and instead, we can succumb to the temptation to lash out when difficulties arise or life becomes hectic. One sharp response leads to another and then another. Before long, we’ve developed a habit that brings only anger, pain and sadness. If you want to improve your marriage so it reflects a more loving and kind communication style, then here are seven tips to get you started.

1. Respond in Love, Not Anger

The enemy loves to stir up strife, and one of the best ways to do that is to entice you to give in to anger. Proverbs 14:29 wisely tells us, “People with understanding control their anger; a hot temper shows great foolishness.” Foolishness has no place in our marriages. That’s not to say that we can’t address issues that need addressing or speak our minds. In fact, it’s dangerous to the health of our marriages if we don’t, but when we address issues, we should do so in love, not in anger. Our goal should never be to punish or cause pain, but rather, to bridge our differences and bring about godly understanding.

2. Believe the Best

As spouses, we play unique roles in the life of our mates—as encouragers, truth-tellers and prayer warriors, just to name a few. Our spouses need us in their corner. They need us to believe that they are doing their best at work and at home. Their best may fall short of perfection, but everyone’s does, even our own. Instead of expecting the worst, anticipating their shortcomings, or worse, throwing their shortcomings up in their face, we can stand in faith believing that they are doing all they can to be the best possible spouses and parents. It’s one more way we can live out the Golden Rule.

3. Forgive… Completely

“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn others, or it will all come back against you. Forgive others, and you will be forgiven” (Luke 6:37). Marriage will absolutely give us chances to practice walking in forgiveness. If we have truly forgiven our spouses of their shortcomings and mistakes, then we won’t return to former wounds when we have an argument. No, if we forgive, then we will put the incident in the past and refuse to dwell on it. And when that incident comes to our minds, instead of dwelling on it or giving the enemy a foothold in our marriage, we can proclaim, “I have forgiven that, and I refuse to dwell on it. I plead the blood of Jesus over that memory and that offense, and I make the quality decision by faith to put it behind me.”

4. Speak Kindly to Your Spouse

As believers, we know there is power in the words we speak. Proverbs 18:21 tells us that the words we speak “can bring death or life” (Proverbs 18:21). In relation to our spouses, our words can either build them up so that they can effectively accomplish God’s plan for their lives, or our words can tear them down. We must recognize that we wield an immense power in their lives. Therefore, we should speak kindly when we talk to them and refuse to give into flippant, hurtful, accusatory or even sarcastic words.

5. Speak Kindly About Your Spouse

Just as important as it is for us to speak kindly to our spouses, it’s equally important to speak kindly about them. How we speak about them will affect how we and others perceive them. If we want others to love and respect our spouses as much as we do, we must commit to speaking kindly and respectfully about them.

6. Communicate Openly and Honestly

Good communication is key in marriage, but it doesn’t always come naturally. If you need help learning how to communicate effectively—with kindness, openness and honesty—then you should find a marriage seminar through your local church, meet with a Spirit-led counselor to help you learn, or find a respected mentor to encourage you.

7. Disagree Honorably

Disagreements will happen in marriage. It’s simply part of two people living together for any length of time. However, those disagreements don’t have to become abusive or destructive. No, we can disagree honorably and openly by addressing our points of view without succumbing to destructive accusations. We can eliminate words like always and never from our communication. For instance, we can avoid saying things like, “You never spend time with my family,” “You never stick to our budget,” “You’re always late,” or “You’re always critical of the kids!” A good Spirit-led counselor can assist us in learning how to disagree honorably, thus strengthening our marriages instead of weakening them.

Good communication in marriage is a practiced art. It doesn’t happen overnight. In fact, it can take years to master. As you work to improve, put these seven tips into practice in your marriage. And if you find that you need the additional help of a respected mentor or counselor, you can look to your local church for recommendations. If you have yet to find a strong faith-based church, visit KCM’s Partner Churches page for listings. May our marriages—like everything else in our lives—bring glory and honor to the Lord!

Have you ever looked around and thought all your friends and people you know are being blessed with things you long to be blessed with? We’ve all been there, and it can be easy to begin feeling sorry for yourself. But that is nothing but a trap, an opportunity for the thief to steal the Word of God from you.
