Dear Brother and Sister Copeland,

Our hearts rejoice as we join so many families and friends in celebrating with you 50 years of ministry through Kenneth Copeland Ministries! Your ministry has truly changed the Body of Christ and the world for the better. You have taken us from “milk to meat,” and have taken the “voice of victory” where His Word had not been heard.

For over five decades, you have set the pace for countless believers to stand on and live by the uncompromising Word of God. For those of us in full-time ministry, you have continually raised the bar in ministry excellence. You’ve equipped us through your teachings, your example and your evidence to live by faith. Above all, you have always reminded us not to forget the love walk; that it is the foundation for everything in God’s kingdom to work.

You’ve heard me jokingly say, “I try to steal Brother Copeland’s stuff every chance I get!” But in all seriousness, this is said out of my deep respect for you and the wisdom the Lord has given you. Thank you for the years of counsel to us, your faith in us, and above all, your and Sister Gloria’s love for us. You’ve not only helped to make us what we are, but you’ve made a mark that cannot be erased.

Congratulations on 50 glorious years of ministry! May the Lord bless you as you continue to take His voice to the uttermost parts of the earth!

Six Ways to Divorce-Proof Your Marriage

6 Ways to Divorce-Proof Your Marriage

“Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” –1 Peter 5:8

6 Ways to Divorce-Proof Your Marriage

In the beginning, God created a marriage. Not a government. Not a school. Not a committee. A marriage. This intimate relationship is the foundation on which God chose to build all other human relationships. God performed the first marriage, and from one marriage came the world’s inhabitants. But as with all the holy and precious things God creates, the enemy is quick to level crushing attacks against it, and your marriage is no different.

Even if your marriage is near perfect, it’s important that you go out of your way to protect this most sacred of relationships, which is only second to your relationship with God Himself. First Peter 5:8 says, “Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.” Indeed, the enemy relishes any opportunity to devour marriage, as it is the foundation of all human relationships. So, how can you “stay alert” in regard to your marriage? Here are six practical truths that can help divorce-proof your marriage.

  1. Remove Divorce From Your Language

“Avoid worthless, foolish talk that only leads to more godless behavior.” –2 Timothy 2:16

“The tongue can bring death or life; those who love to talk will reap the consequences.” –Proverbs 18:21

The Bible reminds us constantly that our words hold great power, and just like with anything else, the power of life or death for your marriage is in your tongue. Don’t even joke about divorce, don’t use it as a threat, and certainly don’t entertain divorce as a “Plan B” or an escape route. While it may seem inconsequential, when you speak words about the death of your marriage, which is divorce, you give the ‘divorce weed’ a chance to take root in your marriage. Rip it from your vocabulary like you would a weed growing in your garden.

  1. Remember That Marriage Is Not Intended to Complete You

“You, God, are my God, earnestly I seek you; I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” –Psalm 63:1 (NIV)

“On the last day, the climax of the festival, Jesus stood and shouted to the crowds, ‘Anyone who is thirsty may come to me!  Anyone who believes in me may come and drink! For the Scriptures declare, “‘Rivers of living water will flow from his heart.”’” –John 7:37-39

Constantly expecting a marriage relationship to make you whole puts undue burdens and unrealistic expectations on you and your partner. Only God fully completes us and satisfies us. Take a step back and examine your desires and expectations for your spouse. Are you expecting your spouse to fulfill a role that only God can fill? If so, it’s time to adjust those expectations to line up with God’s Word. Begin by looking to God, and only Him, to fill the dry and parched places of your heart with the Living Water of His Spirit.

  1. Believe the Best About Each Other

“She bears up under everything; believes the best in all; there is no limit to her hope, and never will she fall.” –1 Corinthians 13:7 (ISV)

Many marriage battles are fought in the mind before they ever manifest in tangible words and actions. Errant thoughts shoot into the mind like flaming arrows, and if they aren’t dealt with immediately, they can cause mass destruction. Thoughts like, Did he really just say that? Doesn’t he know how much that irritates me? That’s just like her to do that. A guy can’t catch a break.

Sound familiar? In most circumstances, your spouse isn’t out to “get you.” Always assuming the worst about your spouse over a misunderstanding is a tiring way to live, and the Bible tells us in 1 Corinthians 13:7 that love “believes the best in all.”  If you married your spouse in good conscience that this was indeed who God had for you, why would you assume the worst about him or her? Your spouse, just like you, isn’t always going to be perfect, a fact that isn’t going to change this side of heaven.

Our lives follow our words (and thoughts!), so what if our first reaction over a misunderstanding with our spouse is to tell ourselves, “Well, this wasn’t what I was expecting to happen, but I trust their heart toward me”? How might our relationships improve? Further communication and resolution may still need to happen, but how much healthier will our attitudes be toward our spouses? And how much more prepared will we be the next time the enemy launches an attack against us if we always believe the best?

  1. Tackle Tough Conversations

“The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of justice.” –Psalm 37:30 (NKJV)

“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” –Proverbs 27:17

While it is important to believe the best about each other, tough topics like purity, children, money, failures and weaknesses can’t be avoided. To be an adult is to have the courage and grace to hold those tough conversations. But here’s the benefit: Small conversations in the present build bridges for future problem-solving. Such talks build trust, encourage openness and strengthen the bonds between husband and wife. If you and your spouse rarely circle back to these topics, or if you never even had the conversations to begin with, then it will be much tougher to address them when problems do arise.

  1. Pray for Each Other

“Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].” –James 5:16 (AMPC)

Building a solid prayer life has its challenges. But there is one person you should remember to pray for every day—your spouse. Shower your spouse in prayer. Prayer accomplishes exponentially more than you can see or imagine. Prayer has the power to align your will with God’s, to change your attitude toward your spouse, and to defend against the enemy’s attacks. Whether in a calm season or a stormy season, set a hedge of prayer around your marriage. “Every time I think of you, I give thanks to my God” (Philippians 1:3).

  1. Set Appropriate Boundaries

“Give honor to marriage, and remain faithful to one another in marriage. God will surely judge people who are immoral and those who commit adultery.” –Hebrews 13:4

Did you think that boundaries are only for dating couples? Think again! Whether it’s technology, money, time or friends, every couple has areas that threaten to weaken the marriage. Because of the time invested in holding those tough conversations, you should know which areas are struggles for you and your spouse. Own up to those areas, and place some life-giving boundaries in your marriage. Boundaries used in the right way don’t restrict life, but open it up for more love and freedom.

Put these six steps in place to help you stay alert to the attacks of the enemy, and you’re on your way to divorce-proofing your marriage. A marriage takes constant care to carry it through all of the seasons of life. If you find yourself in a joyous season in your marriage, may this encouragement further strengthen and deepen your roots. But if you find yourself walking through a dark season, do not give up! With God anything is possible! Read our article, 4 Faith Truths That Can Save Your Marriage. Surround yourself with the Word of God, with prayer and with those who will stand in faith with you. The Heart of a Champion—6 Steps to Becoming Spiritually Fit

6 Steps to Fulfilling Your Purpose

It’s time to get spiritually fit, so you can be used by God and fulfill your purpose! Let’s take a trip to the spiritual gym and practice these six steps in this faith-filled training plan.

Do you like watching the Olympic games? Yeah, most of us do. Why? Because these players have the heart of a champion. They are in it to win it! If you’ve ever watched the Olympics, you know what takes place in a matter of minutes took years of difficult and consistent training to achieve. Most of us couldn’t jump on a pair of skis and whiz down a snow-packed hill, or pick up a fencing sword and step in a ring with only a few days of instruction and practice. No. To be fit for that level of competition—to win the prize—requires a life that invests in victory.

You may not have been called to compete in the Olympics, but you have been called by God for a specific purpose. He has a personalized plan for your life. He loves you and wants you to enjoy all that He has for you. But to be of use to Jesus, you must first get in spiritual shape to fulfill that specific calling and purpose He has for you.

How do you get in spiritual shape so you can fulfill your purpose? You become prepared and equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:17). Just like the Olympians train so they can be fit and prepared for competition, you, too, must prepare for your calling.

First Timothy 4:7-8 says, “…train yourself to be godly. Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” What this verse is telling us is godliness does not come without the intentional act of training. We can’t remain spiritually feeble and weak, or wait until we feel inclined to make a change—we have to pursue it.

To “run with endurance the race God has set before us” (Hebrews 12:1), we need a faith-strengthening, endurance-building, mountain-moving fitness plan. Are you ready to get fit for your calling?

Let’s take a trip to the spiritual gym and put into practice these six steps of our faith-filled training plan.

  1. Build Spiritual Muscle

If you’ve ever worked to build natural muscle, you know it takes time. First, you start with light weights, then gradually work your way up to heavier weights. It doesn’t happen overnight—it takes persistence and dedication!

The same is true when we start working to build spiritual muscle. To do this, start by reading a few chapters in the Bible each day, pray in the spirit for 15 minutes and listen to Word-based teaching on your drive to work. Then, over time, build your “muscle” by extending your time spent in each of these areas.

You may not notice a change at first, but the next time a challenging situation comes your way, you may be surprised at how powerfully your faith responds.

  1. Use Proper Technique

One thing Olympians work to perfect in their particular sport is proper technique. They know it can be the difference between gold and silver, or no medal at all.

The same is true in our spiritual race. 1 Corinthians 9:24-25, “So run to win!” Winning the race is dependent upon the way you run it.  It’s not just a matter of being in the race.

Paul gives us a hint about the proper way to fight the good fight of faith in 1 Corinthians 9:26 when he said, “Therefore I do not run uncertainly (without definite aim). I do not box like one beating the air…” (AMPC).

What’s the problem with beating the air? You never make contact. Without contact, there is no impact. Our fight of faith should make an impact in this world, but it takes technique. Otherwise, we’re wasting our time.

So, how can you perfect your technique?

Practice, practice, practice. When you practice the basics of faith over and over again, you will begin to master a good faith technique, and it will become more and more powerful in your life. Begin small, say by believing to shorten the length of a cold or for money to pay a $25 bill. Then, it will grow into faith that overcomes disease, walks in divine health and pays off a million-dollar bill.

Don’t beat the air. Determine to make contact with your faith.

  1. Determine to Go Pro

Professional sports and the Olympic games garner a large audience. Why? Because people resonate with the desire for victory. The heart of a champion is one that God put within each one of us. We watch these athletes perform at a level most of us wouldn’t even attempt. They’ve mastered the basics—they’re set apart.

Did you know you are set apart by God for the same kind of awe-inspiring victory?

You are called to go pro with your faith—to be at a level that most never achieve. But no athlete becomes a pro without training, and you can’t become great by doing whatever you feel like doing. To master the fight of faith, you have to make a decision that, spiritually speaking, you’re done being weak. You are done letting sickness walk all over you. You’re done being defeated, done living in depression and done with lack.

Abraham was a pro-faith fighter. He was heir to the world, because he had mastered the basics of faith (Romans 4:13-20, NKJV). How did he do it? He learned to believe God, live by faith and never waver at God’s promises—even when they seemed impossible in the natural.

Make a decision today. Become a master of the basics of faith—go pro in your life and in the fight of faith. Make victory non-negotiable in your life.

  1. Maintain Your Focus

Have you ever tried driving forward while looking in the rearview mirror? Of course not! It puts you in danger and keeps you from navigating the road ahead. What you focus on determines the outcome of your journey.

Paul tells us the same is true in our spiritual lives. In Philippians 3:13 he says, “I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead….” God wants us focused on His plans and purposes for our lives—which is our future and hope.

But the devil is determined to use our yesterday to keep us from spiritual advancement today. He relentlessly reminds us of past mistakes, hurts and disappointments. We must purpose to “throw off everything that hinders…and run with perseverance the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1, NIV).

How can we avoid looking behind us? Hebrews 12:2 says, “We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith.”

  1. Follow the Master Instructor

So, where should your focus be? On the Word of God.

Abraham was a master of this important faith skill. When God told Abraham and Sarah they would have a baby in their old age, he didn’t deny the natural impossibility, but the Bible says, “He didn’t consider it.” The word consider means “to look intently at, to focus on.” Abraham knew he and Sarah were too old to conceive, but he chose not to focus on that. He chose to focus on and magnify what God said, contrary to natural evidence.

Whatever you talk about and think about most is what you magnify. So you have to make a decision—what are you going to magnify?

When trouble comes in your finances you don’t have to ignore the need or pretend it doesn’t exist, but don’t magnify it. Instead, magnify Jesus and what He says about the situation. You can call it like you see it, or call it like He sees it. One is living by faith and the other by sight.

  1. Don’t Quit

Are you prepared for every good work yet? No? Well, don’t quit!

To be fit for God’s calling on your life, you must have relentless determination. The kind of perseverance that doesn’t quit, doesn’t lay down and never gives up. It pushes past the fear of change, the fear of not pleasing God and the fear of sacrifice. It allows the pain and discomfort of growth to build strong faith and indomitable spiritual muscle.

This is the life that God can use. This is the life you are called to pursue. In doing so, you will find an overcoming victory that will move any mountain, conquer any fear and thrust you into a new level of service in God’s kingdom.

Paul had this determination when he said, “That is why we never give up” (2 Corinthians 4:16). He knew faith is a way of life.

If you’ve disengaged from the fight of faith, given up or become weary after some difficult battles—be encouraged—and get back in the ring. Plug back into the Word and reengage in the fight of faith. Spiritually train to be fit for your calling, and you will eventually walk in everything God has planned for you. Don’t settle for less!

3 Things to Do When the Pain Is Too Much

When the Pain is Too Much

Pain is a very real symptom. It can wear you out and leave you shaken. You can try to dull it with painkillers, but when you’re in the heat of the battle against it, you know it will be back. Kenneth understands that feeling. In fact, there was a time in his life when debilitating pain left him breathless and angry. But through the experience, he learned a very important lesson that he wants to share with you below.

by Kenneth Copeland

It was just after Labor Day 2004, and I was at the height of one of the most intense battles for healing I’d ever fought. A few days earlier I had ruptured a disc in my back. It felt like a toothache that was 4½ feet long—from my hip to the tips of my toes.

The experience left me mad at my legs.

It left me mad at the devil and anyone who came near me.

And I hadn’t slept in days.

Never had I hurt as badly as I did at that moment. All I wanted to focus on was the pain and getting free of it.

God met me in it, but in a very different way than I would have imagined. Below are three things He taught me to do when the pain almost seemed too much.

1. Express Gratitude by Faith

I was on the back porch facing another sleepless night. One heating pad was wrapped around my calf. Another was wrapped around my thigh. Each was held on by a bathrobe sash. The heat was turned as high as I could get it. But nothing seemed to help—I was still lying there on my back crying.

I didn’t feel very grateful. I certainly didn’t look very grateful.

Right in the middle of all that pain, though, the Spirit of God dropped it into my heart to begin shouting out my gratitude for all my heavenly Father had done for me.

“Oh, Father, I’m so grateful to You! I’m grateful that my other leg doesn’t hurt. I’m so grateful my arms aren’t hurting, my fingers are all working well, and my head doesn’t hurt—it is sleepy, but it doesn’t hurt!”

In the midst of all that pain, by an act of obedience I expressed gratitude to God…by faith!

Instead of focusing on the pain and hurt, I filled my thoughts and mouth with gratitude for my life, for my family, for all the years I’ve been in ministry, and for every other good thing that arose in my spirit.

I started praising and thanking God and the more I praised Him, the less pain I had in my leg.

And as I was expressing my gratitude to Him, God began talking to me.

The more He talked, the better I felt. Each day I progressed; not one day was as bad as the day before.

There were a number of things that brought me to the place where complete healing manifested in my body. Thousands of my Partners; many believers from Spirit-filled churches; faith-talking, true healing-believing doctors; my family and friends; all added their faith to mine.

Nothing, however, had more impact than what began that night on the porch. The moment I began thanking God for all that was going right in my life, I was on my way out of the problem.

If you are experiencing pain, then I encourage you to make the decision to thank God for all the good things He has done in your life.

2. Make the Decision to Focus on Gratitude

If you’ll think about it, we only have two real options in times of extreme pressure. Those options are to focus either on the problem…or the gratitude. In regards to pain, you cannot choose to focus on the pain you are experiencing and gratitude at the same time.

For instance, what happens if you have one sore finger? You may have nine fingers, your toes, arms, ears and numerous other body parts that are working perfectly, but that isn’t your focus. No. All you can think about is how you are going to get that one finger healed. You begin confessing healing scriptures and try to decide what else you need to confess or do, to stop the pain.

But if you don’t water those confessions with praise and thanksgiving, your focus on the one sore finger—or whatever problem—will continue to dominate your thinking.

If you don’t redirect your focus, the problem can consume you. So start giving God thanks for everything that is working right. Praise Him for all the good things He has done in your life. As you do, you’ll come to a place where you can release your faith and receive your answer.

“Yeah, but Brother Copeland, you don’t know what has happened to me.”

You’re right, I don’t. But I do know you’re breathing—not pushing up grass!

So just start thanking God for your life! Remind yourself that no matter what your circumstances are—it could be a whole lot worse. You’re not dead yet!

3. Stop the Enemy With Your Praise

And this principle applies to far more than just receiving healing. Expressing gratitude by faith will change everything around you. It will change the whole complexion of your life.

I’m not saying the challenges will be over when you start filling the atmosphere with shouts of praise and thanksgiving. In fact once you begin praising God with purpose, you’ll become a prime target for the devil. Why? It’ll scare the daylights out of him when you begin operating in gratitude…and he’ll try to stop you.

He’ll use the only tactic he possesses. He’ll try to steal that word out of you by stirring up your flesh. Mark 4:16-17 tells us, “These are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard The WORD, immediately receive it with gladness; and have no root in themselves, and so endure but for a time: afterward, when affliction or persecution ariseth for The WORD’s sake, immediately they are offended” (KJV).

The enemy will try to get you to become offended. But that will only work if you have no root—if you’re not grounded in the love of God.

However if you are loving The LORD your God with all your heart, soul and mind (Matthew 22:37) and expressing your gratefulness for all He has done, you are becoming rooted and grounded in love. That’s what Paul wrote to the Ephesians. He said:

I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God (Ephesians 3:16-19.)

Become so filled with His love that offense can’t come near you. Praise Him for His marvelous love. Praise Him, and as you do the enemy will be stopped cold because praise “stills the avenger” (see Psalm 8:2, KJV).

Fill your mouth and the atmosphere with gratitude—thank God for all He is, for all He has done and is doing in your life—regardless of the pain you are experiencing. You and the world around you will change! And be sure to read “5 Scriptures to Help You Remain Thankful in the Midst of Pain.” Let God’s WORD strengthen you today!

Ministry Minute: Simple Stress Relief

Ministry Minute Stress Relief

Got a minute? In this Ministry Minute video teaching, Kenneth Copeland explains how to reduce stress when problems come by focusing on the answer and not the problem. …all in about a minute!

We all face problems, which can cause stress if not handled correctly. Then, sit back, rejoice and watch Him work everything together for your good. Kenneth Copeland explains more about how this simple stress relief strategy will relieve stress and help solve your toughest problems in this Ministry Minute teaching.
