Thousands of prisoners are being discipled through the partnership of KCM and Mike Barber Ministries. When you partner with KCM, you’re ministering to those prisoners too!
As a student at Kenneth Copeland Bible College and an employee of KCM, Ashley Veney is no stranger to ministering to others; however, ministering in a prison was something new to her. “I had never done prison ministry before, so I didn’t know what I was stepping into,” says Veney.
What she stepped into was the heart of the Father. “The compassion of the Lord was so strong in that place,” she recounts. “I could see the people; I didn’t see the sin.” According to Veney, at the end of the day it’s all about identity. “They’re all there because they don’t know their identity.”
Veney was one of 27 volunteers from Eagle Mountain International Church who went, in partnership with Mike Barber Ministries, to share the love of God and encourage the inmates to stay strong and continue in their personal walk with the Lord. “I recognized the prisoners needed someone who would come and speak to the God in them,” Veney states. “If they hadn’t yet given their lives to the Lord, they needed someone who would come in and lead them into a relationship with Him.”
Twice-Sown Seed: Mike Barber Ministries
Did you know that ministry such as this is made possible because of people like you? When you partner with KCM, your financial gift does not stop in Fort Worth, Texas. Ten percent of that money is then given to other ministries, having a far greater reach than what KCM could have on our own. We call this twice-sown seed, and each year millions of lives are impacted because of this partnership.
One such twice-sown seed is Mike Barber Ministries (MBM). KCM partners with MBM to minister the Word of God to inmates in prison. With a group of volunteers, they go through the entire prison, ministering cell to cell until every inmate has heard about Jesus. They’re also able to share with the prison staff and facilitate baptism services.
Raised to New Life In Christ
When someone who was a sinner and an outcast by society surrenders their life to Jesus Christ and then participates in water baptism as an outward symbol of their decision, it is a beautiful sight to behold—a person beginning their new life in Christ. Romans 6:4 says, “For we died and were buried with Christ by baptism. And just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glorious power of the Father, now we also may live new lives.”
Veney was blessed to see the beauty of this with her own eyes when she was able to baptize someone. “That is something that marked me,” she says. One of the women she baptized was a young lady whose sister was in the tub next to her. “We coordinated so they could be baptized at the exact same moment and start this new journey together,” shares Veney. “In that moment, it was like I forgot I was in a prison. It was just two sisters who gave their lives to the Lord.”

Save a Soul, Save a Family
According to MBM, approximately 2.3 million people are affected by incarceration each year, and this demographic is the most unchurched population in the United States. Mike Barber Ministries believes if they can Save a Soul, they can Save a Family.

MBM recognizes the multiplied fruit that comes through linking arms with ministries such as KCM. They recently shared their gratitude: “Thank you, Brother and Sister Copeland and KCM Partners, for everything!” says Brandon Barber, CEO of MBM. “We want to celebrate you and thank you; because of our partnership together we’ve reached many lives in 2024. Look what God as done through us working together!”

A Reflection of God
MBM may be thankful for KCM, but the gratitude is mutual. As an employee of KCM, Veney saw firsthand the excellence through which MBM does everything when she volunteered to go to the prison to minister with them. “They are a great reflection of God. Excellence is found in the tent, the chairs and the sound equipment. They thought of everything, and they gave the best for those ladies,” she shares. “I really appreciated that.”
Finding Identity In Christ: Equipping Leaders
MBM also helps prisoners understand their new identity in Christ by training leaders within the prisons. Second Corinthians 5:16-17 says that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. No matter what someone’s past is, they can move forward to have a positive impact on everyone around them by understanding their identity in Christ. According to Galatians 2:20, they can now identify as being in Jesus rather than on who they are in themselves. What great news! Through leadership and discipleship classes, inmate pastors and leaders are being equipped to become stronger missionaries inside their mission field of prison.
We Are Better Together
Partner, this is just one example of how your prayers and financial giving are having a far-reaching effect beyond the ministry of KCM. Thank you; your partnership is helping spread the gospel of Jesus Christ from the top of the world to the bottom and all the way around the middle…and even behind prison walls. Because of that, people are finding their identity in Christ and reaching out to minister to those around them.
We are better together.
