Life is often filled with unexpected challenges, hardships and times when we’re left wondering if God provides or not. In tough times, it can be overwhelming, forcing us to question how we will survive.
Whether it’s the loss of a job, crippling debt, the end of a relationship, or the passing of a loved one, these experiences can leave us feeling shaken and uncertain. However, as believers in Jesus Christ, we can find comfort and assurance that God provides, especially when life seems to subtract rather than add.
Kenneth Copeland Ministries Partner Kelly Ficarra understands wondering about God’s provision and ultimately, seeing His faithfulness firsthand.
Kelly owned two successful dance studios in Jersey City, N.J. As expenses skyrocketed, she struggled to stay current on her bills, eventually landing $52,000 in debt.
“I needed to get rid of the debt because it was weighing on me and was a source of stress,” said Ficarra. “A lot of creditors and collection agencies were calling. Every day, it was a constant reminder that I had that debt.”
In her time of need, a friend recommended a book by Kenneth and Gloria Copeland about a financial breakthrough. A particular chapter stood out to Kelly because she learned about a word she hadn’t heard before—tithing.
Kelly picked up her Bible and began studying the scriptures, realizing there was clear direction to tithe. “It was at that point that I decided to step out in faith,” said Ficarra.

For anyone walking through a challenging situation and wondering if God provides, Kelly has this to say: “Start your journey. It’s one day at a time. Don’t lose hope, don’t give up, don’t lose faith, and look toward God; because He wants to bestow a blessing on you, more than you could ever think or imagine.”
God Is a Good God
Gloria Copeland emphasizes the importance of having faith in God’s provision. She states, “God is a good God, and He wants to bless you. He wants to provide for you in every area of your life.”
When we shift our focus from our circumstances to the character of God, our perspective changes, and we find hope to take a step forward. When life subtracts and times are tough, we can remind ourselves that God’s resources are limitless. God’s ability to provide is not dependent on our situation.
In difficult times, we can look to the Bible for examples of how God provides for us. Exodus 16 tells the story of the Israelites in the wilderness. Despite their complaints and doubts, God provided manna from heaven to sustain them. This miraculous provision illustrates that even when we feel lost or abandoned, God is actively working to meet our needs.
God often provides through unexpected channels. It may come in the form of a job opportunity, a sudden financial blessing, or a friend’s support, much like Kelly Ficarra’s friend, who told her about the book that ultimately led Kelly to a revelation she found in Scripture.
The key is to ask the Lord for wisdom (James 1:5) regarding our circumstances and remain open to how God may be working in our lives, even when we don’t realize it.

As believers, we can rest assured that when life subtracts, God provides. By meditating on this truth, we can confidently declare His promises and trust in His provision. As we navigate through hard times, let us hold onto the truth that God is always with us. He does not abandon us in our times of need (Hebrews 13:5); instead, He invites us to trust in His goodness and faithfulness.
