Don’t Stop Believing: 3 Steps of Spiritual Progression

#image_title

Have you ever watched a baby move from babyhood to the toddler phase? It begins with one tenuous step, then another, and the race is on! That child is not planning to ever stop walking.

Sadly, many Christians stop moving forward in spiritual progression. They don’t move past babyhood, but instead, they stay right where they are stuck in situations and conditions that never seem to change.

You don’t have to be stunted in your spiritual growth when you follow these 3 steps of spiritual progression!

1. Don’t Stop Hearing God’s Word

In order to progress past babyhood, don’t stop hearing God’s Word. Romans 10:17 (NKJV) says, “Faith comes by hearing and by hearing the Word of God.” Taking time to hear the Word daily sets you on a path to progress in your life of faith.

In order to continue to hear God’s Word, you have to close your ears to other things. Turn off the television. Shut down your phone. Think about where you are spending your time and what you are hearing. Turning down the noise of the world will enable you to turn up the voice of God’s Word.

How do you hear God’s Word? Read the Bible. Go to church. Watch anointed teachers on YouTube and Victory Channel. Be open to hear God wherever and whenever He speaks.

2. Don’t Stop Speaking God’s Word

Another way to progress in faith is to keep speaking God’s Word. When you find a promise in the Bible, say it out loud. Speaking God’s Word will keep your heart and life lined up with God’s will.

Jesus said, “By your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned” (Matthew 12:37, NKJV). Your words contain power to create God’s will or to hinder God’s results.

Jesus told the disciples their words carry power if spoken in faith, “For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says.” (Mark 11:23, NKJV).

LaShea McKinney was diagnosed with lymphoma cancer and given 30 days to live. She followed Gloria Copeland’s prescription of speaking God’s Word of healing over herself three times a day.

Gloria said, “If necessary, double the dose!” Even though she didn’t feel any difference in her body, she didn’t stop! On the 30th day, LaShea returned to the doctor. He again ran all the tests, then called in five specialists who all agreed there was no sign of cancer in her body!

3. Don’t Stop Loving God and Others

To progress in your life of faith, you must keep loving God and others. Jesus said, “You must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. A second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew 22:37-39).

When you abide in Jesus and let His Words abide in you, you will bear good fruit in your life (John 15:1-8). By hearing and speaking God’s Word, you are enabling God to work on the inside of you, giving you the desire and will to please Him.

What pleases God? Loving Him and loving others. Don’t let any circumstance, a careless spill, a forgotten promise, or even a hurtful comment keep you from loving God and those around you. Jesus said, “Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples” (John 13:35).

You can love others because God loves you.

Don’t stop learning and growing in Christ by spending time with Him and surrounding yourself with other believers in sweet fellowship. As you do, you will progress in your life of faith.

You may feel like a baby taking his first steps but keep going in faith. This life with God is a journey and by continuing to walk with Him, you will end up enjoying a life of victory!
