A California wildfire was burning about a mile from Sammy Maloof’s house. News reports were telling him what the fire was going to do; however, Sammy told the fire what it was going to do, and the results were miraculous!
Sammy Maloof is no stranger to adrenaline and high-stakes situations. An expert in high-performance racing engines and a seasoned Hollywood stuntman, if it involves intensity, he’s most likely “been there, done that.”
He’s also no stranger to wildfires. As a resident of California, it’s a storyline he’s seen play out before. Maloof has learned a thing or two through the years about standing his ground in faith and not backing down from a challenge.

He Spoke to the Fire
The whole mountainside was burning. The fire was so close, it looked like it could be their backyard that was on fire. Said Maloof, “When I left here that day, the news and everybody coming through here is telling me what the fire is gonna do. I start telling them what the fire is gonna do. That sounds arrogant, but when you’re confident with the Lord, and you’ve already been down this road before…He’s the same yesterday, today and forever.” God doesn’t change (Hebrews 13:8 )!
Jesus stated in Mark 11:22-25 that we can have faith in God and speak to the mountains in our lives—in this case that “mountain” was a wildfire! Maloof knew he had the authority to speak to it, based on Jesus’ words; he was confident because he had prayed about it and he KNEW his unchanging Lord would do His part. After all, he had seen the Lord move in this way before, about 10 years prior. “I already said ‘amen,’” said Maloof with assurance. “Amen means ‘so be it.’”
According to Maloof, when you see something God said in His Word, you can rest assured in His protection as you walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). Even though negative thoughts tried to come to his mind, telling him how bad the situation was, Maloof stood his ground, firmly believing the scriptures he had stored up in his heart. “We had already prayed about it, so I wasn’t letting the enemy take anything,” stated Maloof emphatically.
Maloof advises others to pay attention to the voice of the heavenly Father. “If God said He’ll do it, He’s gonna do it.”
Maloof continued thanking his heavenly Father that they were protected and that none of their property would be touched.

A Miraculous U-turn
As Maloof and his family stood their ground in faith, believing that they were protected from the ravaging wildfire, they witnessed a miracle. The fire made a U-turn, and began heading back up the mountain, in the opposite direction of their home! The words we see in Scripture are alive, and they were seeing evidence of Mark 11: 22-25 in real time!
“Without working knowledge of the Word of God or how the enemy works,” said Maloof, “you’re gonna get your butt kicked. What you say with your mouth matters.”
You Become Who You Associate With
Maloof also firmly believes that who you spend your time with matters. “Think about it,” he said. “In the natural world, if you hang out with trash, you become trash. You hang out with men and women who have a lot of wisdom, you’ll become like them. The Bible says so. You become like who you associate with” (Proverbs 13:20).
For 38 years, Maloof has associated with Kenneth Copeland by listening to the teachings of Brother Copeland, learning from him about faith, and actively applying what he’s learned. “It’s absolutely beautiful, and it’s powerful,” said Maloof. This investment of time and effort in following the principles of faith resulted in an amazing miracle!
