4 Ways To Rewrite Your Story & Change Your Life!

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This is a story about a Christian who loved the Lord, sought to serve Him, and desired to live a life filled with the countless victories He promised in His Word. But something was troubling this Christian. You see, there were promises unfulfilled, desires unmet year after year, and a story that seemed to be repeating the same chapter over and over.

But one day, this believer in Christ decided to pick up a pen and rewrite the life story from one that failed to one that satisfied. This Christian decided to write a victory story!

Who is this story about? This story is about YOU!
No matter what your story has looked like thus far, it’s never too late to pick up your spiritual pen and change the direction of your life. Maybe right now your story reads: “struggles financially,” “suffers with poor relationships,” “lives with unfulfilled desires,” etc. But when you learn how to rewrite your story, it will be one that reads: “financially prosperous,” “enjoys happy relationships,” and “has received heart’s desires.”

You see, you have been given the right by Almighty God to write your own story. While He has a calling for your life, a plan and a purpose—you get to choose whether to walk in that plan or not. If you choose God’s way, He has a life of victory prepared for you—that’s why Jesus came!

Are you ready to see a twist in your own plot? Here are 4 Ways To Rewrite Your Story & Change Your Life!

1. Be Quick To Respond

“Give attention to my words.” –Proverbs 4:20 (NKJV)

In this week’s BVOV broadcast, Jeremy Pearsons shares how being quick to respond is critical to receiving from God. In Mark 9:17-27, we see that a demon-possessed boy was delivered because the father was quick to respond and believe that Jesus would cast that spirit out of him.

On the other hand, in Mark 3, when Jesus asked the Pharisees whether it was good to heal on the Sabbath, they did not respond. The Scripture says this saddened Jesus because He knew it was due to their hardened hearts.

If your story hasn’t been going the way you’d like, it’s time to take a look at the state of your heart and how you’re responding to the Word of God. You want to be like the father of the demon-possessed boy, quick to respond in faith to what Jesus says

When you don’t respond to God’s Word, like the Pharisees, it’s a sign that you have a hard heart.

You may not feel like you have hard areas in your heart, but if you aren’t receiving, you’ll want to dig deeper. Hardness of heart can be caused by unforgiveness, hurt and disappointment from not having received; a spirit of rejection; pride; or fear of being disappointed, just to name a few.

If you want to rewrite your story and change your life, don’t hesitate, don’t think it over—determine to be quick to respond to God’s Word. Don’t fear disappointment. Don’t question it or evaluate it next to your current circumstances. When you hear the Word, be quick to respond in faith.

2. Be Quick To Believe

“Immediately the father of the boy cried out and said with tears, ‘Lord I believe; help my unbelief!’” –Mark 9:24 (NKJV)

If your life story is failing to produce something promised in God’s Word, it’s time to go back to the Word—the whole Word. That’s because, as Jeremy Pearsons says, “There’s nothing wrong with the seed (the Word of God). It’s time to check the condition of the ground,” which is your heart. The seed to be healed, for example, comes from promises in God’s Word, and those are good, uncorruptible seeds. If healing doesn’t come, it isn’t because of the seed.

It may feel like you’re believing God’s Word regarding your situation, but a hardened heart is something that you can’t necessarily feel. It happens over time. What are some of the signs of a hardened heart? They are:

  • Worry, fear, insecurity, anxiety
  • Seeking fault with others
  • Dull, unfeeling or unresponsive
  • Trying to solve your own problems
  • Slow to believe God’s Word.

Your heart can even become calloused because you haven’t received what you’ve been believing for, so you stop believing to avoid further disappointment. You can get to that place without even knowing it. But take heart! You can get back to a tenderhearted state—a place where you are quick to believe.

It takes work, and it often isn’t pleasant to face the hard places that have developed. But to rewrite your story, you’ve got to till the ground of your heart by being quick to believe. As you likely already know, that doesn’t come naturally. There is work involved in developing a heart of flesh that receives the seed with gladness and carries it to full development.

Don’t get caught in the trap of believing that only the devil could be to blame for your situation. Ask God to show you the hardened places in your heart and how you can soften them. Then, determine to become a person who is quick to believe again.

Watch Jeremy Pearsons teach you how to be someone who is quick to believe.

3. Be Quick To Repent

“People who conceal their sins will not prosper, but if they confess and turn from them, they will receive mercy.” –Proverbs 28:13

If your story has read the same year after year, there’s a sure way to rewrite your story for future success—and that is to be quick to repent.

Some people struggle to admit their faults. They think somehow that by confessing their flaws, they are putting themselves down and admitting defeat. Others struggle with deep-seated insecurities and the fear of never being good enough, which sadly often leads to prideful behaviors and the inability to grow personally and spiritually. Then they’re left wondering why they stay in the same place year after year.

To become quick to repent, you must be secure in who you are in Christ. This will enable you to own your mistakes, and you will desire to know your shortcomings so you can correct them.

If you want to rewrite your story and change your life, you’ve got to become a person who is quick to repent. That means learning to receive the minor corrections of others without pleading your case. It means quickly repenting before the Lord and asking Him to help you. That’s the sign of a tender heart.

David is an excellent example of one who was quick to repent. When others called him out, he didn’t deny it or try to justify his behavior. Instead, he was quick to say, “I have sinned against the LORD” (2 Samuel 12:13).

You can do the same! If you’re truly humble and tenderhearted, you’ll not only receive input, but you’ll even ask others for feedback. You’ll do this because you know the sooner you correct areas where you’re missing it, the sooner your story will change for the better!

4. Be Quick To Forgive

“And whenever you stand praying…forgive.” –Mark 11:25 (NKJV)

If your story has been the same for quite some time, it’s time to investigate your heart in the area of forgiveness. Unforgiveness is one of the greatest causes of a hardened heart. A heart in this state is such hard soil that the seed of God’s Word cannot penetrate, much less take root and grow to full manifestation.

You may not feel that you have unforgiveness, but a deep and honest search might reveal otherwise. Spend time with the Lord and ask Him to reveal any area of unforgiveness in your life. (It may be a much older incident than you thought!) Then, take the time to forgive by faith, and remember to ask for God’s help! Forgiveness is something that most often requires supernatural assistance.

Once you’ve forgiven, purpose to be one who is quick to forgive in the future. Don’t let a single offense carry on in your heart. Get rid of it quickly! The quicker you are to forgive, the quicker your breakthrough will come.

When you make these four ways to rewrite your story regular habits, your life will change. If you take steps to become quick to believe, respond, repent and forgive, expect a major plot twist in your future! God has already planned the story of your life—a story of victory. Take the time to pen the future He has in store for you. Your life will become the greatest glory story you could ever imagine.
